About the map
Soviet Topographic Maps are to this day used in spatial and infrastructure planning or various other types of research projects across the country. The 3D interactive version serves to highlight the added value of these maps and intends to go beyond the narrow technocratic circle bringing it to the general public. Modern geospatial tools such as this one are convenient, attractive and enable an effective communication of spatial data visualization.
How did we make the map ?
- It is built on Mapbox. The digital terrain model which is integrated into the platform gives it the rugged effect.
- A Soviet Topographic Map from 1988-90 of a 1: 1 000 000 scale is used as a top layer.
- The Georgian font used in the project title is AGorda.
